Bunnings anchors major $48 million centre planned for Maroochydore
By Erle Levey
CBRE has been appointed by Bunnings to lease the 2200sq m of additional retail space as part of its $48 million development on Dalton Drive, Maroochydore.
Construction on the landmark site is due for completion in late 2015.
This precinct is set to thrive, with Officeworks also committed to a site just south of Bunnings and roadworks set to start in 2015 through Horton Park, which will eventually link Dalton Drive to Aerodrome Road.
The new Bunnings is 250m from Maroochydore Homemaker Centre, which is home to Harvey Norman, Domayne and many other large format retailers.
Brendan Robins, of CBRE, is leasing the buildings fronting Dalton Drive. “We will have opportunities for cafes, retail businesses, medical tenants and also space for a larger format showroom,” he said. “There will be over 500 car spaces on site, with all tenancies set to benefit from tremendous signage and exposure, as well as the increased foot-traffic Bunnings will attract into the centre.”
Andrew Marks, from Bunnings, said construction on the 14,000sq m-plus Bunnings Warehouse Maroochydore had started and it was expected to be operating by late 2015.
Damien Crocetti, joint leasing agent from CBRE, said the Sunshine Coast was Queensland’s fourth-largest local government area supporting a population of about 330,000 people and expected to grow about 2% pa. “Bunnings have invested substantial capital into the region and with the major infrastructure projects such as the sunshine Coast Public University Hospital, airport upgrade and the development of Horton Park, the region is set for a massive 10 years.”
